Our story - California

In January 2016, he decides to visit his friend who is studying at Stanford. He meets her there for the first time (friend makes sure of this). They spend the weekend visiting Santa Cruz, San Francisco and watching a Hindi movie named Wazir. She falls asleep during the movie and he accidentally wakes her up to share his predictions about how the movie will end. During one of his conversations with friend, she overhears how much he likes the movie Swades. He cannot believe that she has the time (and patience) to see the hundreds of crappy movies that she has seen but hasn't seen a nice one like Swades and insists that she watch it. When they part ways, she says "Bye!" and leaves without a second glance. After he returns to NYC, she obtains his email ID under the pretext of wanting to see the photos he had taken. She begins watching Swades and finishes it in 4 sessions (and 1 week).

Our story - New York

After a few weeks of chatting online, she confesses to him that she has feelings for him. He, in his characteristically robotic and boring manner, first questions the point of relationships in general and explains how, for 25 years, he has been telling anyone willing (and unwilling) to listen that he doesn't want to get married. He then tells her that he would only be interested if it were serious and needs more time to get to know her better before he can commit. The days turn into months as they talk on the phone every day sharing stories from their recent as well as distant past, some funny some sad. As April comes along, he has made up his mind and invites her to New York - an invitation that she accepts. He plans out the 24th of April in great detail without letting her in on the plan. He ensures that they are at Battery Park at the exact time that the sun sets and asks her if she would like to spend the rest of her life with him while offering a tube of toothpaste (ask us about this!). We think the website is probably a big enough hint as to how she replied :).
